Where to Stay in Lima for One Night

Where to stay in Lima for a night: the best hotels near the airport. View of buildings in Lima and the ocean at sunset

The airport is far from the main tourist areas in Lima. It will take you around 1 hour from Lima airport to the main touristic neighborhoods, like Miraflores or Barranco.

If your flight is in the early morning, you will need to wake up very early to get back to the airport on time. Plus there can be a lot of traffic at rush hour near the airport, as it’s located in an industrial area.

So if your layover in Lima will be very short, you just want to rest, and you don’t want to worry about making it to the airport on time, the best will be to stay at a hotel near the Lima airport.

Let’s take a look at the best hotels near Lima airport, either right at the airport or within a 10-25 minute ride from it.

Holiday Inn (High-end)

The Holiday Inn is your best option if you will be in Lima for one night and want to stay near the airport. It’s actually located just across the airport and they provide free shuttles that run every 15 minutes.

The rooms have very comfortable beds, TV and a desk. They offer a large breakfast buffet, and the staff is helpful and friendly. They also have an indoor pool and a fitness room. It’s very highly-rated and guests seem very happy with their stay.

The only thing you should take into account is that the hotel is located at a busy avenue. Make sure to ask for a bedroom on the opposite side of the avenue.

Book a stay at the Holiday Inn here.

Hotel Costa del Sol by Wyndham (High-end)

Hotel Costa del Sol is not just near, but at the airport itself, which is its main benefit it you will stay in Lima for one night.

The airport of Lima is relatively small, there is just one terminal, so after leaving the hotel in the morning, you can walk and be at the check-in counter in one minute. Or if you don’t have luggage, you will be at Security in 3 minutes.

The rooms all have a TV and the suites have a jacuzzi. It also has an indoor pool like the Holiday Inn, a restaurant (with a breakfast buffet), a bar and a spa.

Otherwise, the reviews are a bit mixed. Apparently they sometimes have issues with hot water and rooms aren’t very well maintained. It is a little bit less expensive than the Holiday Inn though!

If what you value most is being as near to the airport as you can, this is the place for you.

Limaq Hotel (Mid-Range)

The Limaq Hotel is a bit further than the previous two, but just a 10-minute drive away, so it’s still very near the Lima airport. For an extra fee, you can book a shuttle to get there. Those 10 minutes are on the direction to the tourist area, so it can also be a good option if you have some extra time and want to explore a bit of Lima.

Rooms have a TV and AC. You can also relax at the terrace of the hotel. They also offer a breakfast buffet, which starts at 4:30am, so it’s a great option if your flight leaves early.

San Miguel Awanka Hotel (Mid-Range)

This is a pretty good option if you don’t want to spend too much, want to be relatively close to the airport and get a good decent room.

The San Miguel Awanka Hotel is a 25-minute drive from the airport. Even if it’s further from the airport than the rest of the hotels mentioned here, it’s still relatively close to the airport if compared to the touristic neighborhoods.

Another advantage is that the area is safer to walk around than the rest of the hotels mentioned in the post. It’s just a few minutes walk away from a mall (Plaza San Miguel) where you can find all sorts of restaurants, shops and a cinema.

The rooms are comfortable, they offer a breakfast buffet, and it’s located in a quiet area.

Royal Sweet Dreams Airport B&B (Budget)

This is a good option if you want to stay for a night at a budget hotel near Lima airport. It’s just a 15-minute drive away, also in the direction of the touristic area.

It’s also 15-minute drive away from Plaza San Miguel. That means it’s also convenient if you want to go out for dinner.

The rooms are basic but well kept. The cheapest ones have a shared bathroom, but you can get a private one if you pay a bit more. There’s also a common space where there’s a TV. Breakfast is included.

How to Get to Your Hotel from the Airport

If you are staying at a hotel that does not provide a shuttle service, then the best way to get to your hotel from the airport will be by taking a taxi.

You can get an official airport taxi just before leaving the Arrivals hall. The official taxis are safe and you will get an English speaking driver, but they are expensive.

They usually charge around 5 or 7 times more than a regular taxi. But since you will be staying at a hotel near the Lima airport, the price shouldn’t be that high.

If you prefer a cheaper option, you can order an Uber or any other taxi app from the airport. You can read this post about taking an Uber from Lima airport for more information, like pick-up point, prices, and some important tips.

There’s also an official Lima Airport bus, but unfortunately it doesn’t stop at any hotel near the aiport. They go directly to Miraflores.

What to do in One Night in Lima

Miraflores in the evening
Miraflores

If you have one night in Lima and want to get out of your hotel these are your options:

Going out for dinner in Lima if you have a short layover

If you want to go out for a nice dinner, you can ask your hotel to call you a cab and go to Miraflores. Lima is one of the best cities in the world in terms of gastronomy, so you have a lot of options. Many of them are in Miraflores, one of the touristic neighborhoods in Lima.

If you are in for a fancy experience, you can try Central or Maido. They are two of the best restaurants in the world. Keep in mind that you need to book very much in advance to get a seat.

Otherwise, you can walk around Kennedy Park in Miraflores. From there you can walk towards Larcomar, an open air mall on a cliff overlooking the sea. You will find several restaurant options there (I recommend Tanta for Peruvian food). Plus you will get to walk around the area and get to know a bit of Lima.

In the evening, after dinner, there’s not a lot of traffic on the way back to the airport. It wouldn’t be that long to get back to your hotel.

If you would like to go out for dinner and see a little bit of Lima but still stay close to your hotel near the airport, another option is to take a cab to Plaza San Miguel. Plaza San Miguel is a mall that is a half hour drive to the airport (between the airport and Miraflores). You can find everything there, restaurants, cafes, shops, a cinema, department stores and more.

Before You Go…

That was the best selection of hotels neart the airport if you are planning to stay in Lima for only one night.

But if you are planning to stay in Lima for two nights or more, then you should stay somewhere else. The area near the airport is not the nicest, there’s nothing to see around. But it’s ideal if your layover is short and you wouldn’t have time to see anything anyhow.

For longer stays, the best neighborhoods in Lima for tourists are Barranco and Miraflores. You can read more here about staying in Barranco vs. Miraflores.

Not sure how long you should stay in Lima or even if Lima is worth visiting for more than one night? You can read my suggested Lima itineraries here (itineraries from 1 to 5 days).
